Description:
This two series course will cover early intervention therapy in the primary and early mixed dentition, through the late mixed dentition.
Part one of the course is 2.5 days covering proper records, diagnosis, and treatment planning. First, we will present proper records, why each is necessary, and how to use each component in your treatment planning. We will then cover how to use your records for proper diagnosis in the vertical, transverse, and anteroposterior dimensions to have a solid foundation for your treatment plan going forward. We will supplement the records lecture as well as the treatment planning lecture with a significant amount of cases to drive home the information presented.
Part two of this course discusses treatment options and modalities to achieve your orthodontic treatment goals based on proper diagnosis and treatment planning learned in part one. We will cover expanders, headgear, and class II correctors for both dental as well as orthopedic change. There will be one half a day spent on Invisalign mechanics, with live treatment planning to show you a workflow for utilizing this tool. This course will have models of each of the appliances so that you can touch and feel the options available to implement within your practice for greater confidence. You will have the opportunity to have your own cases from your office presented and treatment planned if proper records (as discussed in part one) are sent ahead of the course for evaluation and incorporation into the presentation.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain confidence in understanding what phase I interventions are available and when each is indicated and appropriate for initial therapy.
- Understand what functional appliances and class II correctors can and should be implemented including protocols for their use.
- From the hands-on component, feel comfortable returning to your office and implementing phase I therapy with confidence.
- Learn when Invisalign is an appropriate tool for early intervention and mechanics to make your treatment more efficient and effective.
