Foundations, review of infant anatomy, review of oral functional development, review of problematic symptoms

- Identifying infant and Toddler lingual restrictions - working toward a standardized diagnosis.
- Functional development from 0-3 and how it relates to cranial development
- Common Symptoms from 0-3: taking the functional perspective and relating it back to development
- Differentials: when it's a tongue-tie vs GI issues vs allergies... Or perhaps all of it! Dial in on guiding patient management.
- Case selection with anatomical variations - Know when it's straight-forward vs complex.
- To release or not to release? When to do same-day treatment and when to wait.
- Simple steps to the surgical approach - how to get a clean, minimal release with big impact
- Aftercare: overall steps to follow-up, wound management and various approaches to post-op exercises

Meet the Instructors:
Dr. Tracy Tran, DDS
(ASAP Pathway Contributing Faculty)
Dr. Tran is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist who specializes in infant & pediatric oral ties, as well as pediatric sleep issues. She is a Michigan native who first landed in Southern California to attend dental school at USC's Ostrow School of Dentistry (Fight on class of 2011!) After graduation, Dr. Tran went on to complete a 1-year general practice residency where she received additional training in all aspects of dentistry, with an emphasis in oral surgery. She performed surgical procedures in maxillofacial trauma under the attending of Oromaxillofacial, ENT and plastic surgeons.

During the following two years, Dr. Tran continued her specialty training in pediatric dentistry, while completing her Masterā€™s in Biomedical Science. Since being in private practice, Dr. Tran has focused her continuing education on pediatric tethered oral tissue (TOTs) and its relationship with oral dysfunction in order to diagnose orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs). This includes difficulties with infant nursing, toddler feeding & swallowing, speech articulation, and pediatric sleep disordered breathing. She has successfully treated these patients through a collaborative team approach, and continues to expand her knowledge and experience in this niche specialty.

Course withdrawal written notice 30-59 days: 50% of the course registration could be transferred to a future live course designated by the attendee.
Course withdrawal 29 days or less: Unfortunately, due to expenses incurred when planning for the course, no credits could be given for course withdrawal within 30 days of the first day of the course.
